Plant parasitic nematodes cause huge losses in crop yields worldwide. Changing legislature means that there is an increasing need to identify new compounds that act through novel targets and have low environmental impact.
Our research is providing a better understanding of the interaction of the nematode with its host plant and this knowledge base underpins contract research in this area.
We have developed assays to:
- Assess the impact of chemicals on nematode metabolic function.
- Determine the impact of chemicals on a range of behaviours including oesophageal-stylet activity.
- Delineate interactions of chemicals with molecular targets of interest.
